Tyrus is originally from the Philadelphia area in the Northeast US. Growing up with a large extended family helped him develop his competitive nature, being active in school, sports, and clubs. Having such a large family allowed him to pursue his academic career in Florida while remaining close to other members of the family that were spread throughout the country. His career path eventually led him from Florida to Nashville. This was a natural move, as his wife spent most of her life in Louisville, KY, and the surrounding area.
As a Managing Partner, Tyrus oversees and operates the Nashville office of Benchmark International. Having hand selected each team member, his staff is comprised of talented multi-disciplined employees who work with clients through the comprehensive acquisition process from beginning to end. Under his leadership, the team continually monitors markets both locally and on a global scale, develops multi-faceted business intelligence and comprehensive marketing strategies, and successfully negotiates terms with buyers to create value for our clients. Tyrus’s expertise and team leadership has led to numerous executed deals and successful transactions for our clients.
Tyrus has a unique acquisition history, having led deal teams in both Florida and Tennessee. His successful closings, including Delta Mechanical Contractors, HiWaay Information Services, Sonne Tribble, Fast of Florida, Hunt Engineering, Action Concrete Pumping, Staffway, Skillets, Wired Technologies, MeltonUS, NEFCO, Conarc, KLB Enterprises, and Carolina Physical Therapy, have collectively led to billions of dollars of transaction value for Benchmark clients over the years. This scale of success is a testament to Tyrus' expertise and dedication.
Other notable transactions include Atlanta Biologicals (acquired by Bio-Techne), Adapt Laser Systems (acquired by Boyne Capital Partners), and Gasco Affiliates (acquired by Tech Air and CI Capital Partners). These three deals serve as a great example of various deal forms. The first was a publicly traded strategic buyer, the second was a pure private equity deal, and the last was a strategic acquisition backed by private equity. Finally, the acquisition of Gasco Affiliates to Tech Air, was named the North American Deal of the Year by M&A Advisor. Tyrus was also named the prestigious Investment Banker of the Year by the M&A Advisor at the 22nd Annual M&A Advisor Awards Gala.

Before joining Benchmark International, Tyrus held several positions in sales and sales management for large financial institutions. Through these positions, he was able to learn a great deal about the markets, and he eventually obtained his FINRA Series 7 and 66 licenses that allowed him to work in client-facing roles. Tyrus truly enjoyed the dynamic aspect of these roles but wanted to develop different skillsets further and pursue new challenges. As he completed his MBA through the University of Florida, he transitioned to a new company and position with a heavy focus on quantitative analysis of security products and financial instruments. In this role, his primary delivery was internal audit reports for SEC financial reporting requirements.
The combination of experience in his prior roles has given him a basis in which to develop great success with Benchmark International.
The choice to join Benchmark International was easy for Tyrus because of how the leadership inspires the organization to perform above standard levels. There is an excellent depth of knowledge that allows the team to operate successfully on a global scale. His role enables him to leverage his depth of quantitative analysis while still being able to enjoy the client-facing aspects of the industry.
