Investment Banking Outreach Associate
Benchmark International is looking for an experienced and driven Deal Transaction Associate to add to our growing team. As an Associate, you will be a part of our busy office.
The Deal Transaction Associate will focus on outreach to potential buyers on behalf of Benchmark's clients once they go on market. This will involve developing a firm understanding of the client's business, operations, financials, and key selling points in the M&A market and effectively communicating with potential buyers. The Associate's role is to effectively market and follow-up on behalf of Benchmark's sell-side clients with the goal of obtaining multiple credible offers for our clients leading to the negotiation of LOIs.
Job Responsibilities
Your experience throughout the years will be a great resource for the Benchmark team, however as an Associate, you will act under the instruction of and be trained by Benchmark Internationals experienced leadership team, with combined experience of over 40 years in the M&A markets.
Your specific duties as a Deal Transaction Associate will include:
- Performing research to uncover potential companies and individuals interested in acquiring businesses owned by Benchmark’s clients.
- Reaching out to potential acquirers via phone and email, with a bias for phone calls.
- Managing client’s profiles on third party and proprietary online portals and responding to inquiries on such portals.
- Negotiating nondisclosure agreements (NDA’s) with potential acquirers.
- Preparing executed NDA’s and acquirer profiles for clients.
- Obtaining clients’ approval of NDA’s and potential acquirers’ access to client’s marketing materials which contain sensitive business data.
- Fielding approved potential acquirers’ additional questions about clients, replying where possible and seeking additional data from clients where required.
- Arranging meetings and conference calls between clients and acquirers, occasionally moderating such calls.
- Following up on conference calls and on-sites and developing follow-up on course of action.
- Driving approved potential acquirers to submit offers for clients’ businesses.
- Assist Transaction Support personnel primarily through requesting additional information from clients.
As an Associate, you must be highly energetic and passionate individual with a positive and highly motivated ‘can do’ attitude. You must have the strong desire and ambition to succeed in this hugely rewarding industry. It is also vital for your role as an Associate that you possess excellent verbal and written communication, analytic, mathematical, and interpersonal skills as well as presentation abilities.
Specific qualifications for the Associate include:
- Must be able to work in the office 100% of the time as this is not a remote or hybrid position (professional business attire required).
- Possession of or ability to obtain a California Real Estate license within a specified period (company covered expense).
- Required to maintain California Real Estate license (company covered expense).
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business financial statements, business contracts, general business periodicals, professional journals, and regulations.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, buyers, and others.
- Research and compile lists of potential acquirers specific to a particular company and/or industry.
- Conduct market outreach via cold calls, e-mails, and mailers to decision makers of potential acquirers.
- Conduct significant negotiations over the phone concerning a range of issues.
- Maintain superior client relationships, providing continual updates on the status of marketing efforts, and arranging meetings with potential acquirers and clients.
- Document all communications with clients and potential acquirers in CRM (client relationship management) system.
- Maintain high degree of knowledge of all companies within the portfolio to ensure ability to fully discuss specific information with potential acquirers and management.
- Maintain deal portal databases to reflect relevant, up to date information regarding clients to ensure continual generation of interest
- Proficient personal computer skills including Microsoft Office suite of products, CRM, electronic mail, calendar, recordkeeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and graphics.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to handle rigorous schedules and deadlines.
- Prioritization and organization skills.
- Demonstrated business and financial acumen.
- No personal history of enforcement actions by the Securities Exchange Commission, FINRA, or any state securities regulatory bodies.
- The ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders, and the ability to influence others.
- Must possess good time management and prioritization skills.
Compensation
This position will receive salary in the range of $70,000 to $75,000, a commission percentage of fees collected from closed transactions, and an additional end-of-year bonus if the team’s target is achieved. On target earnings are in the range of $90,000 - $100,000.
