Experience

Prior to joining Benchmark International, Michael was the CFO for a privately held $190 million industrial company that was a distributor, manufacturer, and service provider. During his 23-year tenure there, he ran various operations including the manufacturing plant and the generator distributorship. The company made five acquisitions during that time, and he performed due diligence on at least a dozen additional opportunities. He was the lead negotiator for most of their large customer contracts for supply or service, and handled legal issues. Prior to that role, Michael ran and sold a small chemical company, and he spent three years working for a venture capital firm where he performed due diligence on investment opportunities and served as a director for various portfolio companies. In 2015, he was nominated for the Tampa Bay Business Journal’s CFO of the Year Award.

Michael’s primary role on the Major Transactions Team at Benchmark International is to prepare the financial analysis of our larger clients so that we can present accurate and clear data to maximize the sale price for our clients. We know what questions buyers will ask and prepare in advance to make sure the sales process can move forward efficiently. As a secondary role, he provides training on financial analysis and tax returns to other team members. He enjoys seeing a variety of businesses go through the sale process, as it gives him a chance to use his experience in different ways to assist clients in growing and selling their businesses.

Passion

Michael is passionate about helping businesses grow and create value for the stakeholders. This passion, combined with his business experience, drives him to understand how clients create value, document their unique competencies, and communicate that clearly to prospective buyers to achieve the highest valuation possible.

Outside of the office, Michael enjoys spending time with his wife, family, and friends. They enjoy gardening, reading, travel, and the great outdoors.
