Benchmark International is pleased to announce the acquisition of The Blueberry Academy by Linkage Community Trust.
Located in York, The Blueberry Academy provides specialist education programmes designed to equip students with the necessary skills to transition into independent adult life, supporting young adults (aged 16-25) with learning difficulties on behalf of local councils and education providers in the North Yorkshire area.
Linkage, based in Lincolnshire, is a registered charity that provides high-quality care, day services, employability services, sensory outreach and specialist further education throughout Greater Lincolnshire and the East Riding of Yorkshire.
This strategic move allows both The Blueberry Academy and Linkage to enable more people with learning disabilities to access education and employment opportunities, further enhancing both organisations’ dedication to provide inclusion for high quality education and employment pathways.
Linkage’s Chief Executive, Valerie Waby said: “We’ve developed a strong relationship with Blueberry Academy, we share similar visions and values alongside our geographic footprints and growth aspirations. Our organisations have complementary strengths as well as areas that can improve further, by coming together. This will give us a great opportunity to learn from each other and ultimately, deliver the best possible service for the people we support.”
The Blueberry Academy founders, Andy Bucklee and Andrew Cambridge, added: “Both organisations are well governed and built on solid financial foundations. We believe that we would be even stronger together. United, we will more effectively achieve our future aims, particularly enhancing the lives of individuals with learning disabilities and autism.”
